JoAnn Matthews has lived with her husband, Bob, in Pecan Plantation in Granbury, Texas for 12 years.  Attending the University of Texas at Austin and S.M.U., her education is in Business Administration and Journalism.  She received a Legal Assistant’s certification through N.A.L.A. and worked in law firms for 25 years.

JoAnn is a freelance author of children’s literature for age groups 0-18.  She maintained a library in her home for elementary school-age children with books catalogued for Reading Levels 1-6.  The name of the library is “My Friend’s Library.”

JoAnn has actively pursued her writing career the past three years.  Magazine articles “Connecting Through Threads of Friendship” about Granbury Women’s Connection and “Sun, Fun & Food” about children’s camps have been published recently in Granbury Showcase Magazine.  Frequently, she has submitted articles to the Hood County News on behalf of  various charitable organizations for whom she volunteers.  An adoption story, “Sarah Makes Four”, was published in Chips off the Writers’ Bloc.  Articles have been published in local magazines and newspapers in Austin, Texas.

Editing comes naturally to JoAnn.  She has been editing her own writing, work for attorneys and manuscripts for students and beginning writers for over 20 years. She has joined critique sessions with authors over the past 10 years. Editing credits are in all genres. She works extensively on children’s manuscripts as that is the genre she writes in primarily.
